MotoGp Poll: Grand Prix Deutschland
Who is going to get the second place Sunday in Germany? I say Stoner. Why? Because last year Rossi won the race starting from 11th position, as he did in Assen 2 weeks ago. The Sachsenring circuit has 14 turns, it’s tight, bumpy and with change of elevations that tend to upset the bikes. Also by being a short track usually the lap times are very close so we should expect some close racing for Sunday. Having said that I believe that in dry conditions Rossi should be able to win in front of the 2007 matador Stoner and, why not, Hayden. Indeed Nicky has taken third place at this circuit for the past three GPs. He is very excited for his recent improvements and looking forward for a winning in Laguna Seca, but in Germany last year he fought for the victory right up to the end of the race so he knows that this is a track where his style could make the difference.
Anyhow, I speculate a very tight race, with a lot of dicing and Stoner getting even more determined in closing the doors to contain Rossi, so in such a scenario anything could happen, and we should not be surprised to see “strangers” on the podium.

the post qualification comments from the riders are not available yet, but Stoner's authoritative pole position confirm the wonderful moment experienced by the young Aussie. Pedrosa in second place with a gap of only .004, it was not a surprise. Meanwhile the revelation of the day in my opinion was Melandri at .013 from the pole. He looked very happy right after the final results, I just hope that tomorrow he will have a consistent performance all through the day. De Puniet in 4th position: he had a terrific crash ended against the air-fence while trying to improve his lap time. Randy is fast and courageous, but with his attitude risks to suffer a bad injure that could put him out of business for a long time. Rossi is only in 6th position: in his last lap he had for a while the pole but he lost in the last three straight of the circuit. His top speed was only 273 vs. 280 for Stoner and the slowest of the first 8 riders. In the qualifications we have 3 Michelin riders (2nd, 6th and 10th position) against 6 Bridgestone guys: they could have been 7 if the French Guintoli didn't have locked a great 9th position with his M1/Dunlop bike. Again tomorrow I see and hope in Rossi's victory followed by Stoner and Pedrosa but I wouldn't discount surprises with 16 riders wrapped in less than 1 second in the QP
Has to be either Rossi or Stoner. Rossi is motivated and must finish ahead of Stoner, regardless of position, to take points. The Hondas just don't seem to be there this year, although Nick Hayden seems happier. Pedrosa's good qualifying really is not representative of the race. Personally, I would like to see an end to qualifying tires. How about the Suzukis? John Hopkins is leaving-will the team continue to support him? He is a threat to be up front in race trim. However, with a somewhat short and tight track, The Doctor can carve his way to the front. If he does, I don't think Stoner will take unecessary risks and lose all points.
