MotoGp Poll: Grand Prix de France

It's already Friday, and normally I would have already posted our PMP MotoGp poll but I haven't been able to look at my computer in the last few days. Anyhow, this morning in FP1 and FP2 Pedrosa and Melandri were the fastest while everybody else was running off the track searching the new brake markers for the 800cc. LeMans is a Michelin track, somehow tight and with short straights: we expect Rossi to win but who is going to take second place? For Stoner it is going to be the track where he has to prove that his results have been achieved because of his skills and not only the extra top speed of his Ducati. So far Yamaha seemed to be very fast in qualification so I will not be surprised to find Edwards on the front row tomorrow, but Sunday, in the race, it is going to be totally different: I see Melandri to take second place and you?

Yes, after Hopper's third place in China, people would love to see him again on the podium. He is fast and legitimately eager to prove himself in what it seems to be his best season in MotoGp, but there are several other riders who, at least for experience, should outperform him.

First career pole position for Edwards!!! And Stoner, what a performance especially when compared to the rest of the Ducati. Anyhow the surprises didn't finish with these two guys because in third position we find the first Honda, but not that one of Pedrosa or Melandri: it's the LCR of Carlos Checa. And Rossi? 4th position, pushed to the second row at the last by his teammate. The show is on: tomorrow we will see who is the best rider in one of the most intense circuits of MotoGp.

Amazing lap from Edwards. It's difficult to believe that he beat Rossi like that.
Stoner's lap was also excellent. I've always believed that the Ducati was better on the twisty bits than everybody has been saying. Stoner might not win, but he'll beat a lot of Hondas and Yamahas.

Credit to Jimmy about Stoner and his Ducati on the European twisty circuits. He had called today's performance a while ago. I just wonder how much is due to Stoner in consideration that the rest of the Ducati is well behind the front grid

Rain-The Great Equalizer! Entertaining and interesting race from France. I thought Rossi's skill and bike control would allow him to get away. With slick tires on a slippery track he was able to gap the field. However, with wet weather tires things changed. I believe that today was the day Casey Stoner really showed his maturity and demonstrated that he is a real championship contender. This could be his and Ducati's year!

With this trend it is going to be the Ducati year! And what do you guys think about the new rules for the rain?

I like the new rules. The racing gets to continue when it rains, and it's cool to see the riders jumping off one bike and grabbing another.
I hated the old way of stopping the race and using aggregate times.

Absolutely-Jimmy is right. The rain rules are very good. Stopping and using split times is very confusing and difficult to follow.

I agree ... it's definitely better for us. For the riders? I do not know because I believe that some one could prefer the race director to decide for him: he could concentrate in going as fast as he can, given the conditions. Indeed with the new format a lot of strategy has to be planned while riding and collecting information about the track and your competitors
